Makorra Week Day 2 Noir

Day 2 Noir

Korra lies in bed hearing her husband's breath as he slept. She still feeling  embarrassed from him hearing the story.  Though it was only part of the reason she could not sleep. The other part kicking her literally in her belly.  The child was due late fall early winter.  Master Katara had already noted the child was a strong bender and a fighter much like its parents.  Korra hopes the child would have his father's eyes.  She would be fine with the lite skin and blue eyes too. But the golden eyes of Mako was so nice to picture in the dark while he slept.  Korra while imaging then began to wonder. Mako is part earthbender the child could be an earthbender. She feared the child turning out more like Bolin, sure it would not be a total loss just she wanted a little Mako.  She struggles to turn toward the window and side of the bed. Hoping the change in position might relax her and the child. But after a few minutes she gets up trying to get something done.  About half an hour from getting up she settles to stand on the balcony in the moonlight peeking in and out of the clouds.

The soft sound of footfalls coming from behind her.  Mako comes out holding a small dim  lantern. "Care for some company." he asks as he sets the lantern down balanced on the rail.  Korra just smiles in reply at first.

"Sorry I must of disturbed you," she starts to explain.

"Woke me up?" Mako laughs.  He tries to play it off,  "Korra I wasn't fully asleep to start with. Must be this storm or maybe the on edge Avatar I happen to bunk with. You know they can be very dangerous in the daylight. Forget about in the dark."

"Ok, you're still trying to get out of the doghouse from this morning. Flattery gets you nowhere.". Korra says but allows Mako to pull her close to him.

"I beg to differ," he whispers in her ear, " it got us this far.  Soon enough we shall be parents.  Perhaps we could get Bolin to stay with her and tell "The Huntress and Phoenix"."  Mako could still see that Korra is worried, "What is bothering you Korra?"

Korra's face twists uncertain how to answer; she hopes her uneasiness escapes her husband as she whispers I the dark, " Just your son kicking me."

" You mean our daughter love because she is going to be a great Waterbender just like Mommy. Who knows she might get to be a pro-bender with her cousins." Korra does her best to hide a laugh. "What it can happen. What is the worse that could happen?"

"Our child being seriously messed up because his mother is an avatar and he tries to kill everyone? " Korra mumbles.

Staring up to the threatening clouds Mako frowns, "Ok. Other than that. Which won't happen.  She could be a crazy earthbender like King Bumi; but at least she'd have her mom and uncle to teach her. Or her active night life could mean I'm in trouble with two waterbending women." He finishes and tries to mask a yawn from Korra.  She still hears it though.  

"A certain firebender I know should be in bed before he catches a cold and passes it on.". Korra notes.

"Only if you join me to keep the bed warm.  Besides as soon as you got up I couldn't sleep. I don't know maybe it's the storm. I just don't like it and care even less for you to be up and moving around while I 'sleep' with it still looming over."

Korra could only agree as the lantern fades away. But not from lack of fuel or firebending.  Both benders try to bend the apparently dying lantern up with little success.  They both decide to kill the lantern and head to bed.  Though as soon as they get comfortable they hear the rain and followed by thunder.  Suddenly a loud scream that sounded like Bolin erupted into the night.  Which brought them back out of bed to the darkness of which neither could see or penetrate with firebending.
